Privacy Policy

Summary

NaturaPin is made by one person, Henrik Johansson. There is no server behind the app, no account to create and no sign-in. Your finds are stored on your device and stay there. The app makes exactly one network request — asking a weather service what the weather is where you marked a find — and that request can be switched off.

What the app does not do

• It does not collect personal information of any kind.
• It does not track you, and it contains no analytics, advertising, or third-party SDKs.
• It has no user accounts and no sign-in.
• It never sends your finds anywhere. There is no cloud sync and no server to sync to.
• It does not sell or pass on information, to anyone, for any reason.

What stays on your device

When you mark a find, the app saves it inside its own sandboxed container:

• The position, the time, the kind you picked, and how accurate the position turned out to be.
• The direction you were travelling in, if the phone was moving when you marked it.
• The weather at that spot, when it could be fetched.
• A photo, if you chose to add one.
• Kinds you added yourself, and your settings.

None of this leaves your device, and I have no way to reach it. Deleting the app removes it — which is what the backup function is for.

Photos you take or pick are re-saved by the app at a smaller size. That re-save drops the image's original metadata, including any location the camera wrote into the file.

The one thing that leaves your device

To show the weather where you marked a find, the app asks MET Norway (yr.no). That request carries the find's latitude and longitude, rounded to four decimals, over an encrypted connection. It also carries the app's name and version and my email address, because MET requires that so they can get in touch if an app misbehaves.

Nothing identifying you is sent: no name, no account, no device or advertising identifier. MET receives the request, answers with a forecast, and stores nothing about you on my behalf. Like any web service, MET sees the IP address the request came from; how they handle that is described in MET Norway's own privacy policy.

If you would rather this never happened, turn the weather off under Settings → Weather. Then nothing leaves the device at all.

Permissions the app asks for

• Location, while the app is in use — to save where you are standing when you mark a find.
• Camera — only when you choose to photograph a find.
• Photo library — only if you choose to pick a photo from it.

All three can be denied, and the app otherwise works without them.

Backups and export

A backup file, or a find exported as GPX, goes wherever you choose to put it. If you choose iCloud Drive, the file is then with Apple under your own account and subject to Apple's terms. If you share the file onward, you are the one sharing it.

Children

The app collects no data from anyone, including children, and is not directed at children.

Your rights

The GDPR gives you the right to know what data about you is being processed, and to have it corrected or erased. Since I neither receive nor store any data about you, there is no record on my side to request or erase. You delete your finds yourself in the app, or by removing it.

If you buy the app, Apple gives me the same aggregated sales and crash statistics every developer gets. It is anonymised and counted in totals — I cannot see who bought the app.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date.
