The app is in English and Swedish. It follows the language of your device, and you can override that under Language on the start page or in the book menu.
The hockey game people played on a notepad in the eighties, built as a real app for Mac, iPad and iPhone. One round of fixtures per page, the results thrown with a twelve-sided die that actually rolls across the paper, the table written underneath. You throw; the app keeps the league — standings, scorers, assists, goaltending, playoffs, ageing squads, transfers, promotion and relegation, and an archive of every season the book has been through.
Everything the app needs is built in. It works with no network connection at all.
Where are my seasons stored?
A book is one file on your own device, inside the app's container. There is no server and no account. If you turn on iCloud, the same book follows you between your Mac, iPad and iPhone through your own Apple Account — and nowhere else.
How do I make a backup?
Open the book, use the team button and choose Back up book…. You get to say where the file goes. To read one back, use Restore backup… on the start page. Restoring over a book you already have asks first — nothing is overwritten silently.
Why are the clubs named after towns?
The app ships with neutral town teams and invented players, and it stays out of naming real clubs. Under the team button you can rename every team in the book to whatever you like — in every league the book has, league by league — and the names stay in your book.
Can I have the computer play some of the matches?
Yes. Under the team button you pick which teams are yours. Throw your own team's matches, and the rest of the round is filled in when you are done. Choosing nothing means you throw everything yourself, which is how a book starts. The choice can be changed at any time.
What is the joker?
A very rare route to a double-figure scoreline. When a team rolls the top slot of its strip, a red die rolls out, and every ten or higher on it adds a goal and rolls again. It is always part of the game.
What does the 1985 setting do?
It plays the whole book under the rules of that era: ten teams, thirty-six rounds, two points for a win and one for a draw, no overtime in the league, and a short playoff for the top four. Under it are two groups, a promotion final and a qualifying round. It is chosen when the book is created and cannot be switched later, because it decides how a saved throw is read.
Can I use the keyboard?
The whole book can be played from the keyboard, and every key can be remapped under the team button, where clashes are shown. On iPad and iPhone the little key caps appear beside the buttons only when a keyboard is connected.
Why is there no dark mode?
There is no such thing as black paper. The app is a notepad, and it stays in daylight whatever the system is set to.
How do I move a book to another computer?
Either turn on iCloud and let it appear there by itself, or back the book up to a file and restore it on the other machine.
I deleted a book by mistake.
Deleting takes the book off your other devices too, which is why the app asks first. On a Mac the file goes to the Trash and can be put back. Otherwise the backup file is the way back — worth making before a long book gets any longer.
